PREMIUM PARTNER
Škoda Auto is a member of the Volkswagen Group and part of the Brand Group Core. With nearly 35,000 employees at its Czech production sites in Mladá Boleslav, Kvasiny, and Vrchlabí alone, the company is one of the largest employers in the Czech Republic. The future of Škoda is increasingly electric, defined by its e-mobility roadmap including six completely new EVs in the coming years. Yet, modern and highly efficient combustion engines and further improved plug-in and mild-hybrid models will remain an important pillar of Škoda's operational business during the transformation. Škoda aims to become the top brand for active and functionally-oriented customers both in its European home base and the fastest growing emerging markets.
„The future isn't just about digitalising processes but simplifying and automating them. This task extends beyond the IT department to innovators who are bold enough to drive large-scale change.”
Marek Jancák, Head of Car Production
Best Practice: Industrial Digital Twin
THE PROJECT
Goal
Optimizing manufacturing processes and facility management in the production hall, based on localized 3D data and notifications.
Description
The ‘Industrial Digital Twin’ is an example of how digitalisation can simplify and streamline manufacturing processes. Localised state change notifications in the production process help to address issues on the shop floor more efficiently – a modern approach to Facility Management. With a single app, it’s possible to plan the integration of new technology, gather documentation for repair orders, and monitor the current status of the production hall. Creating an accurate digital twin requires scanning the hall to derive an accurate 3D model of the building. Based on this data, organisational and decision-making processes can be further automated in the future.
