Best Practice: Smart Metering and Sharing of Energy
THE PROJECT
Goal
Efficiently utilizing renewable energy sources
Description
Smart electricity meters are an important part of integrating into community energy systems, allowing the sharing of electricity between different consumption points. In practice, a user can provide electricity they generate to another consumption point at a different address. By 2027, we will replace around 80,000 electricity meters for our customers that can remotely transmit consumption data, and can also, for example, temporarily disconnect a consumption point in cases where someone moves out of an apartment and a new tenant arrives, perhaps three months later. There's no need for a technician to visit and disconnect the electricity meter; everything can be managed remotely through data transmission. This is also a significant step towards decentralizing the energy sector and efficiently utilizing renewable energy sources.
Facts
by 2027, the replacement applies to customer sites with a consumption of 6 MW per year
replacement of the electricity meter with a "smart" meter is free of charge in all cases where the replacement is foreseen by the decree
